Organizer/Invited Speaker

Dehui Deng, Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, China

bio-deng

Prof. Deng received dual degree in Light-chemical engineering from Sichuan University in 2007 and Ph.D. in Physical chemistry from University of Chinese Academy of Sciences under the supervision of Prof. Xinhe Bao (Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering) and Prof. Pinxue Liao in 2013. He soon got an exception taking as Associate Research Fellow by Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics. He was appointed as iChEM Research Fellow at Xiamen University in 2015. From 2015 to 2016, he was a visiting scholar at Stanford University (Cooperative tutor: Prof. Hongjie Dai). Later in 2017, he was granted a promotion to research fellow at Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics. He is now the group leader of 2D Materials & Energy Catalysis.

Prof. Deng has been devoted to modulating the surfaces and interfaces of two-dimensional catalytic materials for energy catalysis, aiming at solving the difficulties and challenges towards the conversion of small energy molecules: 1) Proposed “Chainmail catalysis” concept, which provides a new way for the rational design of highly stable catalysts under harsh conditions. 2) Achieved direct catalytic conversion of methane at room temperature, which provides a reference for its conversion under mild conditions. 3) Achieved room-temperature electrochemical water-gas shift reaction, which provides a new way for high purity hydrogen production with low energy consumption. He has published 58 peer-reviewed papers in renowned international journals including Science, Nat. Nanotechnol., Chem. Rev., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., etc. with an overall citation of more than 7000 times, in which more than 30 papers have impact factors over 10. He has applied for more than 30 patents, and has undertaken more than 10 projects including a National Key Research and Development Project from the Ministry of Science and Technology (host), a Basic Science Center project and a Major Program (subject leader) from the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has been honored as an outstanding member of Youth Innovation Promotion Association (2019), Young Yangtze River Scholar of Ministry of Education (2018). He has won the Young Chemist Award of Chinese Chemical Society(2017), The Distinguished Lectureship Award of Japanese Chemical Society(2018), Young Scientist Award of International Catalysis Congress(2016). He has been appointed as the co-chair of the 4th Chinese Energy Material Chemistry Symposium (2019). At present, Prof. Deng is the (Youth) or advisory editorial board member of nine journals, including ACS catalysis, Nano Research, Journal of Energy Chemistry, EnergyChem, Acta Chimica Sinica, Chinese Chemical Letters, Chinese Journal of Structural Chemistry, etc.
