James Shorter graduated with distinction in biology from Keble College, University of Oxford in 1995. He received his PhD from University College London in 2000. After postdoctoral studies at Yale and MIT, James established his own group at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2018, James became Professor of biochemistry and biophysics. The Shorter lab studies how to counter deleterious protein misfolding and aberrant phase transitions in neurodegenerative disease.
