Dr. Jorge Ruas is Associate Professor of Molecular Physiology at the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, Karolinska Institutet. After receiving his Pharm.D. degree from the University of Lisbon (Portugal) he moved to Stockholm (Sweden) and in 2005 received his Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from Karolinska Institutet. In 2006 he moved to Boston (USA) to pursue postdoctoral studies at Harvard Medical School. In 2011 Dr. Ruas set up his laboratory at Karolinska Institutet where his research group investigates the molecular mechanisms that mediate changes in skeletal muscle elicited by exercise training or disease situations, and how this affects health.
