Dr. Banchereau is a Professor and Director of Immunological Sciences at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine. His ongoing studies include using long-read sequencing and genomic profiling technologies to examine the repertoire of isoforms from immune and cancer cells; identifying signatures of pediatric autoimmunity; responses to pneumococcal vaccination in the elderly; and responsiveness to vaccine adjuvants. Previously, he contributed to the discovery of IL-4, IL-10, IL-17 and GM-CSF, and developed DC-based vaccines for melanoma and HIV treatment. Additionally, he identified the role of type I interferon in SLE and IL-1 in SOJIA, leading to the application of IL-1 antagonists for juvenile arthritic disease.
