Marcia C. Haigis obtained her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin in 2002 studying protein chemistry. She then performed postdoctoral research at MIT studying mitochondrial regulation and aging. In 2006, Dr. Haigis joined the faculty of Harvard Medical School, where she is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Cell Biology. Her laboratory focuses on identifying new molecular signals involved in the regulation of mitochondria in mammalian aging and disease and on understanding how these organelles adapt to cellular stress.
