Dr. Jakub (Kobi) Abramson received his PhD degree in immunology in 2005 from the Weizmann Institute of Science. He then continued as a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Dr. Diane Mathis and Dr. Christophe Benoist at Harvard Medical School in Boston where he focused on the role of the Autoimmune regulator gene in the induction of self-tolerance. Upon establishing his own laboratory at the Weizmann Institute in 2011, his research group is mainly interested in understanding how immunological tolerance to self is established in the thymus and how breakdown of this process results in autoimmunity (Chuprin et al Nat Immunol. 2015; Oftedal et al, Immunity 2015, Herzig et al Nat. Immunol 2017, Avin et al, Nat Comm 2017, Abramson et al, Ann Rev Immunol 2017).
