Dr. Hui Shen joined the Center for Epigenetics at the Van Andel Research Institute as an assistant professor in 2014. Prior to that she did her graduate studies at University of Southern California, where she received training in both cancer biology and biostatistics, with a Provost’s Ph.D. Fellowship, an NIH CBM Training Program Fellowship, and a Charles Heidelberger Memorial Pre-doctoral Fellowship.
Dr. Shen participates in many national and international cancer consortia, including The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). Dr. Shen’s work focuses on developing and applying bioinformatics tools to understanding the epigenetic profiles of various human cancers, and how epigenetics interacts with genetics, especially in female cancers. She was awarded the Liz Tilberis Early Career Award in 2015.
