Lucia Strader

Prof. Lucia Strader is an Associate Professor in the Biology Department at Washington University in St. Louis and Associate Director of the Center for Science and Engineering of Living Systems (CSELS).  She earned her PhD in Molecular Plant Sciences from Washington State University and was a postdoc at Rice University in Houston, Texas prior to joining Washington University in St. Louis in 2011.  Her lab focuses on a molecular understanding of auxin signaling, auxin homeostasis, and auxin crosstalk with other hormones, primarily using Arabidopsis thaliana as a model.  Recently, her lab has discovered protein condensation mechanisms regulating nucleo-cytoplasmic partitioning of transcription factors to regulate their activity.  Understanding the molecular details of plant hormone transcription factors will yield insight into strategies used by plants to alter growth in response to various environmental factors.
