Arc is a nonprofit biomedical research institute operating at the intersection of biology and computation, focused on accelerating scientific progress on complex human diseases. We operate in partnership with Stanford University, UC Berkeley, and UC San Francisco and collaborate with researchers around the world.

Our work focuses on solving thorny biomedical challenges that require long-term, ambitious, and collaborative research agendas that no one lab or investigator can tackle alone. We do this by creating pathways for scientific progress and discovery that enable scientists’ best and boldest work. We provide no-strings-attached, multi-year funding; invest in the rapid development of experimental and computational tools that equip us to read and write biology at scale; and create an environment that fosters dynamic, nonlinear collaboration across complementary research areas. We’re intentional about cultivating a scientific community that blends expertise across disciplines crucial to tackling complex disease—including neurobiology, immunology, computational science, human genetics, chemical biology, and technology development.
