Clara Correia-Melo

Clara Correia-Melo is a Group Leader at the Leibniz Institute on Aging - FLI and Associate GL of the DFG Cluster of Excellence “Balance of the Microverse”, in Germany, specializing in the molecular and chemical biology of aging. She previously held postdoctoral positions at the the University of Cambridge and Francis Crick Institute in the UK, and Charité Berlin in Germany, following a PhD in Molecular Biology of Aging at the University of Newcastle UK. She leads a research program uncovering how cellular chemical shifts and resulting chemical microenvironment shape healthy and pathological aging, in the host, the host–microbiome interface, and within microbiomes. Her lab integrates high-throughput mammalian and microbial experimental platforms with metabolomics, proteomics, and systems biology to identify metabolic biomarkers and modulators for innovative metabolism-targeting or metabolism-guided therapies. Clara is also the co-founder of Aptila Biotech, a leading software suite for data-independent acquisition (DIA) proteomics.
