Pura Muñoz-Cánoves is a Principal Investigator at Altos Labs, San Diego, since 2022. Prior to this, she was an ICREA Professor and Cell Biology Professor at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, and a Senior Investigator at the Spanish National Cardiovascular Research Center in Madrid, Spain. She has received awards that include the King Jaume I Prize and Spain National Prize Santiago Ramón y Cajal in Biomedicine, as well as membership in EMBO and Academia Europaea. She is also an elected member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Health and Lifespan. Her discoveries have set new paradigms on the understanding of age-associated decline of skeletal muscle function and regenerative ability.
