Kun-Hsing “Kun” Yu, M.D., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Informatics at Harvard Medical School. He developed the first fully automated artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm capable of extracting thousands of features from whole-slide pathology images. His research has uncovered molecular mechanisms underlying cancer phenotypes and identified novel morphologic patterns that predict patient outcomes. AI methods from his lab have been independently validated by more than 200 research groups worldwide. His contributions to AI-driven pathology have earned major recognition, including the NIH Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award, the Google Research Scholar Award, and the American Medical Informatics Association New Investigator Award.
