Claudia Burrello earned her PhD in 2019 at the European Institute of Oncology (IEO) in Milan, where her research focused on how the manipulation of gut microbiota influences both conventional and unconventional T cells in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Following her doctoral studies, she expanded her expertise in cancer immunology at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam. As a postdoctoral fellow, she investigated how activation of unconventional T cells can enhance responses to immune checkpoint inhibitors in metastatic breast cancer. Claudia joined Cell Press in 2025 as Editor of Trends in Immunology.
