AnaDomingos

The Domingos laboratory research neuroimmune mechanisms underlying obesity. They discovered the functional neuro-adipose junctions between white adipocytes and the sympathetic nervous system that are necessary and sufficient for fat mass reduction via norepinephrine (NE) signaling (Cell 2015, Nature Comm 2017). They discovered Sympathetic neuron-Associated Macrophages (SAMs) that import and metabolize NE. Abrogation of SAM function promotes longterm amelioration of obesity independently of food intake (Nature Medicine, 2017). Ana Domingos is funded by HHMI, the Welcome Trust, ERC, HFSP, EMBO. She trained with Leslie Vosshall and Jeffrey Friedman at The Rockefeller University and is Associate Professor of Neuroscience at University of Oxford. She graduated in mathematics.
