Gail

Gail earned her PhD at Northwestern University studying heavy metal resistance mechanisms of biofilm and free-swimming Pseudomonas aeruginosa. She then did a postdoctoral fellowship at University of Chicago examining effector proteins secreted by the type III secretion system of Pseudomonas syringae and their role in host specificity and pathogenicity on the surface of leaves. She joined Cell Press as an editor in June, 2007 and worked on the teams of Trends in MicrobiologyTrends in ParasitologyCell Host & Microbe, and Molecular Cell before becoming the Editor of Trends in Microbiology from 2010-2019. She has recently moved to Cell Reports as a Deputy Editor starting October, 2019.
