Dr. Mitchell Lazar

Dr. Mitchell Lazar is the Willard and Rhoda Ware Professor in Diabetes and Director of the Institute for Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolism Metabolic Diseases at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Lazar's research has uncovered mechanisms by which the environment interacts with the genome to regulate circadian rhythms and metabolism, with a focus on the regulation of transcription by nuclear receptors. He has received numerous awards and is a member of the National Academy of Medicine, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the National Academy of Sciences.
