- Nenad Ban, ETH Zurich, Switzerland
Nenad Ban. was appointed as a professor of structural molecular biology at ETH Zurich, following his postdoctoral studies at Yale in the group of Thomas Steitz. He is a pioneer in studying gene expression mechanisms and the participating protein synthesis machinery in all kingdoms of life, both in terms of the chemistry of the process and with respect to molecular mechanisms of translation regulation, and of co-translational folding, processing and targeting to membranes.
Nenad Ban is a member of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, European Molecular Biology Organization, the German Academy of Sciences, and the recipient of numerous prizes and awards including the Heinrich Wieland Prize, the AAAS Newcomb Cleveland Prize, the Ernst Jung Prize for Medicine.
