Dr. Bing Su graduated from Peking University in Beijing China in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1985, he was awarded a highly competitive fellowship from the Ministry of Education of China called CUSBEA (China-US Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Application) fellowship, which allowed him to study at Yale University where he received his Master of Philosophy degree in 1987, and his PhD degree in 1991. After graduation, Dr. Su joined the laboratory of Dr. Michael Karin at the University of California San Diego in 1991 as a postdoctoral fellow until 1995. Dr. Su started his academic career in 1995 as a tenure track Assistant Professor at the University of Texas M D Anderson Cancer Center. He became a tenured Associate Professor in 2001 and a tenured Full Professor in 2006 at the University of Texas M D Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Su moved to Yale University School of Medicine in 2006 and became a tenured Associate Professor at the Department of Immunobiology until 2014 when he relocated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine in China. Dr. Su currently serves as the Director of Shanghai Institute of Immunology and Chair of Department of Immunology and Microbiology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. Dr. Su is also an Adjunct Professor of Department of Immunobiology at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Su also holds a KC Wong Chair Professor at Shanghai JiaoTong University and a Distinguished Changjiang Chair Professorship at Central South University, Changsha China. Dr. Su is an awardee of “National High Level Expert Scholarship”. Dr. Su’s research focuses on the intracellular signal transduction pathways controlled by the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) and the mitogen activated protein kinases (MAPKs). He studies the roles of these intracellular signaling cascades in immune regulation and vascular function. Dr. Su served on many review committees including NIH Study Sections, the Review Committee for the Key Programs of NSFC, Changjiang Scholar Program, and the “Recruitment Program of Global Experts”. Dr. Su is also an enthusiastic educator taught at various Universities including University of Texas, Yale, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Central South University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University and Tsinghua University.
