Peng Shi

Dr. Peng Shi obtained her Ph.D from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2007, and received post-doc training in the University of Florida 2007-2012. Dr. Shi took an Assistant Professor position in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles 2012-2016. Since April 2016, she joined Zhejiang University Institute of Translational Medicine as a Principal Investigator. Dr. Shi holds a long-standing interest in autonomic regulation on blood pressure in both physiology and diseases. Her recent work is focusing on microglia, the CNS resident immune cells, and investigating how microglia regulate sympathetic tonicity and brain homeostasis. These works have been published in Immunity (2022, 2024 Jan, 2024 Sep), Circulation Research (2010, 2015), Hypertension (2010, 2015), Stroke (2017), Kidney International (2023). Dr. Shi’s research has received funding supports from American Heart Association, National Natural Science Foundation of China and Natural Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province. Dr. Shi also received New Investigator Awards from American Physiological Society and American Heart Association 2011 and 2012, respectively. She used to be the senior editor of Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology 2016-2022, currently serves as a senior editor of American Journal of Physiology-Regulatory, Integrative and Comparative Physiology.
