Dr. Susan Kaech is a Professor at the Salk Institute and Director of the NOMIS Center for Immunobiology and Microbial Pathogenesis. Her research focuses on how memory T cells form during infection and vaccination, how immune cells are regulated by metabolism, and how T cells can be harnessed to fight cancer, particularly in the brain. Her lab has made significant discoveries in cancer immunotherapy and neuroimmunology, including immune responses in glioblastoma and potential T cell roles in Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Kaech is a fellow of the National Academy of Sciences and of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. Previously she was a professor at Yale and completed her PhD at Stanford and postdoctoral work at Emory. She serves on advisory boards for leading cancer research organizations and biotech companies and helps shape the field through leadership roles in the American Association of Immunologists.
