Panelist

Aleks is a neuroimmunologist whose research and expertise span autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, neurodegeneration, and the interplay between the immune and nervous system. During her PhD research at Columbia University, she discovered complement-mediated synaptic pruning of sensory-motor circuits in the context of neurodegeneration and normal development. Aleks began her industry career as a postdoctoral research scientist at Eli Lilly studying immune regulation mechanisms. She is currently a research advisor at the Lilly Biotechnology Center in San Diego, where she leads neuro-endocrine-immune efforts within the immunology discovery group.
