- Kristan van der Vos, Scientific Editor, Cell Reports Medicine
Kristan earned her PhD in molecular biology in the Netherlands, where she identified and characterized novel targets of the PI3K-AKT-FOXO pathway. She then moved to Boston to study the role of the microenvironment in glioblastoma at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. She became interested in translational research that is strongly connected to the clinic and continued her postdoctoral studies at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. There she combined basic research with clinical projects to help improve survival of bladder cancer patients through translational research that focused on chemotherapy resistance, response to checkpoint inhibitors and epigenetic control of tumorigenesis.
Kristan is interested in interdisciplinary research and is passionate about helping authors communicate their findings in a transparent manner.
