Patrick received his PhD at Ulm University, Germany, investigating mitochondrial function in Alzheimer’s disease using NADH autofluorescence imaging with Prof. Dr. Christine von Arnim. He moved on to join Prof. Dr. Douglas C. Wallace at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for a postdoctoral fellowship studying mitochondrial disorders. Patrick focused on the impact of mitochondrial variants on exercise physiology and adaption with the goal of evaluating exercise as a therapeutic intervention in mitochondrial disorders. He joined Cell Metabolism in 2022.
