Ewa Szczurek is an associate professor at the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics at the University of Warsaw and co-director of the Institute of AI for Health at Helmholtz Munich. She leads joint research labs at both institutions. A computer scientist by education, she received her PhD from the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics in Berlin and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at ETH Zurich. Prof. Szczurek serves as area chair for NeurIPS and ICML and associate editor for Genome Biology. Her research focuses on artificial intelligence, especially probabilistic graphical models and deep generative models, and their applications in computational medicine.
