Prof. Dr. Weibin Fan is the director of the Institute of Coal Chemistry and the State Key Laboratory of Coal Conversion since 2016. He was born in 1969 and obtained his Ph.D degree degree from the ICC of CAS in 1998. From 1999 to 2001, he held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Catholic University of Leuven under the guidance of Prof. Robert A. Schoonheydt and Prof. Bert M. Weckhuysen. After that, he moved to Japan and joined Prof. Takashi Tatsumi’s group. This was made possible by the Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) and the Japan Agency of Sciences and Technology (JST). At the end of 2007, he returned to ICC and got a full professor position and acquired the “Hundred Talents Project” of CAS. His research interests focus on the synthesis, characterization and applications of porous materials, reaction mechanism in methanol conversion to hydrocarbons. More than 110 papers were published in many international academic journals, e.g. Chem. Soc. Rev., J. Am. Chem. Soc., J. Phys. Chem., J. Catal., ACS Catal., Green Chem., Appl. Catal. A/B, etc. He was awarded two first prizes, two second prizes and one third prize by Shanxi Province for promoting Science and Technology. He obtained the support from the National ten thousand Talents project in 2016 and the support from the Young and middle-aged scientific and technological innovation leader projects in 2015.
