Dr. Qiaomei Fu is a professor and the director of the Molecular Paleontology Laboratory at the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China.

Fu’s research area is evolutionary genetics and population genetics, specifically in using ancient DNA to explore the origin and evolutionary history of past human populations, studying the genetic diversity of past mammals and utilizing paleomicrobiology to explore adaptive processes of the past.

Dr. Fu also serves an “HHMI International Research Scholar” and a young affiliate in the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). And she is a member of the editorial boards for journals “PLOS Biology”, “Human Genomics” as well as a senior editor for the journal “Molecular Biology and Evolution”.
