Laurent Le Cam received his PhD from Montpellier University in France in 1999 in Dr. C. Sardet’s laboratory where he studied transcriptional regulation of cell cycle related genes. He moved to Pr. Sicinski’s laboratory at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston to study the in vivo functions of cyclins implicated in the G1/S transition of the cell cycle using genetically engineered mouse models. He was then hired as a senior scientist at INSERM in France and started his laboratory at Montpellier Cancer Center in 2008. His laboratory explores the molecular mechanisms by which the p53 pathway controls cellular metabolism, and investigates how perturbations of these metabolic networks lead to human diseases, including inborn metabolic disorders and cancer.
