Adam Hughes, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Utah. Prior to starting his faculty position at Utah in 2014, Dr. Hughes received his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 2008 and completed postdoctoral studies at the Fred Hutch in 2014. Research in the Hughes lab seeks to understand how cells maintain nutrient homeostasis, and how alterations in intracellular metabolites impact organelle structure and function. Dr. Hughes’ work has been recognized by several awards throughout his career, including a Helen Way Whitney Postdoctoral Fellowship, an NIH K99/R00, a Searle Scholars Award, an NIH MIRA, and a Glenn Award for Aging Research.
