Burkhard Becher

Burkhard Becher is Professor and Chairman of the Institute of Experimental Immunology at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. He studied Biology at the University of Cologne, Germany. He started his graduate studies at McGill University, Canada in 1994 where he studied Neuroimmunology, followed 1999 by a post-doctoral stint at Dartmouth Medical School, USA, where he learned the use of in vivo models of disease in the lab of Randy Noelle. In 2003 he went to the University of Zurich as Asst. Professor and was promoted to full Professor for Immunology in 2008. Burkhard and his team study the role of cytokines in inflammation using primarily animal models of autoimmunity but also preclinical models of cancer.
