Seeing Into the New Frontier: Microscopic Imaging of Organoids and Organ Chips
Monday, August 26, 2019
08:30 – 09:00
Sunset Ballroom

Delivered by: Jeffery Bylund, Ph.D., Applications Manager, Stem Cell & Regenerative Medicine, Nikon Instruments Inc., USA

With the development of high fidelity in vitro human model systems comes new opportunities and challenges for microscopic imaging. Organ chips, for example, present scale-models of human physiology that provide a literal window into cellular and subcellular behavior in the context of a 3D system. But form factor, tissue composition, and working distance can often become impenetrable barriers that threaten to shutter our view.

Using high-end optics, truly modular system design, and modern software tools, the latest in modern microscopy technology enables visualization and quantification of even complex in vitro human models. During this workshop we will cover the techniques and technology used to peer into and extract quantitative information from complex 3D model systems.
