Sophie's training was in molecular- and cellular-scale biophysics.  She started her lab at UCSF in 2012 and her lab works on the macromolecular machines that drive cell division, using approaches from both biophysics and cell biology.  Her lab asks: how do the robust mechanics, architecture and function of cellular machines emerge from those of individual parts?
